We aim to reply within two business days. Telling us your device model and iOS version helps us help you faster.
Why does Umbrella ask for my location?
To show the weather where you actually are. Umbrella uses your location to fetch a local forecast and then discards it — it doesn't store a history of where you've been or track your route. You can use the app with location turned off, but the forecast will fall back to your saved home location.
Why should I allow "Always" location access?
"Always" lets Umbrella keep your weather and notifications accurate when you travel, and power features like departure timing. If you choose "While Using," everything still works while the app is open — some background notifications just become less precise. You're always in control and can change this in iOS Settings at any time.
My notifications stopped or seem delayed.
Two common causes: Low Power Mode pauses background refresh, and iOS limits how often apps can update in the background. Check that notifications are enabled for Umbrella in iOS Settings, that Background App Refresh is on, and that Low Power Mode is off. Opening the app always pulls a fresh update.
The weather looks different from another app.
Forecasts come from a weather model that updates periodically, so fast-developing conditions like sudden storms can briefly differ between apps. Pull down on the home screen to refresh. If a reading still looks clearly wrong after refreshing, let us know the location and time and we'll look into it.
How do "People you care for" alerts work?
You can add people who matter to you and the place they're in, and Umbrella will flag when the weather there is worth knowing about — a hot day for an elderly parent, a cold one for a child. It only uses the location you enter for them; it doesn't track their device.
What are the health-sensitivity alerts?
Optional, opt-in heads-ups for things like pollen, air quality, pressure changes, heat and cold. You choose which ones matter to you, and Umbrella only surfaces those. They're informational and aren't a substitute for medical advice.
How do I delete my data?
Umbrella stores your preferences and saved places on your device. Deleting the app removes that data. If you've contacted us by email and want that correspondence deleted, email us and we'll remove it.
How do I request a feature or report a bug?
We'd love to hear it — email support@umbrellaweather.com with what you were doing and what you expected. Screenshots help a lot.
